PARAGUAY: IMF issues prescription

The IMF called on the government to reform the judiciary, clamp down on corruption and restructure the public sector, cutting jobs while increasing efficiency and answerability. On the economy, the IMF was guardedly optimistic. It noted that the economy was recovering and was registering moderate growth, while inflation had fallen markedly. The IMF visited the country at the end of June but published its report on 15 September.
